Evaluating the RATE Study

The RATE study carries a lot of weight in the young-earth community. Basically, it is a research effort funded by the Institute for Creation Research to try and find actual scientific evidence for a young earth.

Many of the claims from the RATE study have gone largely unanswered (in print) since its publication. But the American Scientific Affiliation web site now has a page posted with several links to journal articles responding to this important issue.

RATE (Radioactivity and the Age of The Earth): Analysis and Evaluation of Radiometric Dating

Now, be warned. This isn't exactly beach-side reading. Some of it wades into some fairly complicated scientific waters. But that's what the situation demands.

Bottom line is, if you want to read some extensive responses to the RATE findings, here it is.
